Jacumba Hot Springs Resort & Spa - Hot Springs in California

What did influence the destiny of the town?

The West Coast is an area of high population density and is located on the Ring of Fire, so there are several spa towns nearby.

Meanwhile, some places became ghost towns.

The U.S.-Mexico border

The closest hot springs to the U.S.-Mexico border must be Langford, but the second closest may be Jacumba Hot Springs.

ReferenceLangford (Boquillas) Hot Springs (Big Bend National Park) - Hot Springs in Texas

This is a hot spring located almost on the border between the United States and Mexico. Imagine there's no countries. Big Bend National Park Of all the national parks in the continental United States, Big Bend is one of the least visited. It is located in a remote area about ...

At Jacumba, there used to be no barriers between the U.S. and Mexico, and people could come and go as they pleased.

However, the number of drug-related smuggling and illegal immigrant had increased.

In 1995, the border was barricaded, and it dictated the city’s destiny of the continuous downfall.

During World War II, Jacumba Hot Springs had been a world-famous spa town, but it lost out to cities more closely to Los Angeles like Desert Hot Springs.

Lukewarm water for summer

When I visited there, there was no cell phone reception from the U.S., and my cell phone was connected to Mexican carriers.

Exterior

This motel is the only facility that opens.

Entrance

The indoor bath is a Jacuzzi.

Jacuzzi1

From the very beginning, I do not like a Jacuzzi.

It looks like a kind of washing machine; I am not willing to soak in it after someone's soak.

Outdoor Pool1

The water in the tub looks contaminated like that in a washing machine.

Outdoor Pool2

There are two pools outside, and free-flowing water is provided to them.

Alpaca
Alpaca
It looks like just a swimming pool.
But water is geothermally heated.

The temperature of the source is tepid (around 100 degrees F), and it is additionally chilled in the huge pools.

Another Pool 01

The water has clear and smells of rotten eggs.

Water Outlet

Generally, people in the United States recognize the sulfur smell as a bad odor, so one of the reasons for the town’s downfall seems to be the smell.

However, I feel regret for seemingly making little effort to emphasize the characteristic of the water.
