A private vacation rental house surrounded by lush greenery. The shared space featured an outdoor feeding trough and an indoor jacuzzi. Two Lodging Options On the street corner of Truth or Consequences, there was a spot covered in an excessive amount of lush greenery. You couldn't see inside from the street, but it was an Airbnb listing. The owner operates two separate properties on the same grounds, each of which can be booked individually. The building I stayed in this time was the one immediately to the right after entering the gate. Enter through the garden enclosed by a white fence. A space that slightly evokes Japanese dry-landscape gardens. A living room with a fireplace. Fully equipped kitchen including refrigerator, stove, microwave, cooking utensils, and tableware. Passing through the narrow, corridor-like kitchen, there was one bedroom on the right. The shower room was located at the far end. The atmosphere was unpretentious, as if you were literally renting a room in someone's house. Pool in the Center The pools were located in the common area and were available for free use when unoccupied. The outdoor tub, featuring a cattle trough, was situated in the center of the concrete-paved courtyard. The water was hot enough at 111 degrees F. Colorless, transparent, tasteless, odorless water gushed out. The pump's operating switch was discreetly mounted on the building's wall. The glass-walled cabin across the way was the indoor bathroom. A vacation rental completely hidden in an alley. The geothermal water was poured into a metal trough. Perfect Hideaway All accommodations at Mother Ship Yoga Lounge & Hot Springs, a yoga retreat center, can be booked through Airbnb. Of the five accommodation options, two are cottages: “Teal Cottage” and “Casa Mañana.” Teal Cottage, where I stayed this time, was located on a backstreet that you wouldn't stumble upon while walking around town. It is located just behind Blackstone Hotsprings, and the alley in front of it was unpaved. Entering the secluded grounds surrounded by tall metal panels, a different world spread out. The guest house consisted of one bedroom with a queen-size bed and a living room with a sofa bed. Fully equipped kitchen with refrigerator, stove, oven, cooking utensils, and tableware. Thorough Simplicity The geothermal water is drawn outdoors. Spacious patio covered by a roof. The tub was installed in a staircase-like area. There was no roof where the tub was. The tub was a large metal trough. An outdoor shower was also installed near the tub. The clear, colorless, odorless, tasteless water was 108 degrees F. Due to the overwhelming amount of water, I was able to get the water fed in a surprisingly short time. The stone garden was devoid of any plants or even decoration, and was surrounded only by metal plates. Rock Star Bus & Private Hot Spring (Truth or Consequences) - Hot Springs in New Mexico

As a rock star, you cross the American continent consuming the dreams of the people and a large amount of fossil fuels, and suddenly stop at a hot spring in a country town. This is the place where you can have such a pseudo-experience. Artesian Bath House This time, because of Airbnb, it is almost impossible to find it while walking down the street. It is located right next to the Artesian Bath House & Trailer Court. The Artesian Bath House is an RV park with geothermal water that appears to have gone out of business, and the building was beginning to collapse. It was a heartbreaking sight to see the historic hot springs being abandoned. New Inspiration As the name suggests, the Rock Star Bus & Private Hot Spring is the place where you can enjoy a natural hot spring while staying in a luxurious bus that a rock star might use on a US tour. From the street facing the Artesian Bath House, you could see the upper half of the giant bus. Once inside the grounds, which were surrounded by a high wall, there was a fire pit and picnic tables dotted around. The host's residence and the two accommodation facilities were not divided into separate areas on the property. The dome is the lodging option other than the bus. The Blue Hole of Santa Rosa - New Mexico

A natural diving spot located along Route 66 at an elevation of 4,600 ft. It is filled with blue water at 62 degrees F throughout the year. Cadillac Ranch Amarillo is the city on the panhandle that sticks out to the north when you think of Texas as a frying pan. Route 66 runs through it, and it is the assembly site for the V-22 Osprey and is also famous for the Cadillac Ranch. Cadillac Ranch is, as you know, an installation artwork consisting of 10 Cadillacs buried on private property along Interstate 40. Unauthorized trespassing on private property and graffiti on Cadillacs and spray cans are rather encouraged here. Mystery-filled Hole Two and a half hours drive west on Route 66 from Amarillo is the town of Santa Rosa, New Mexico. Located roughly halfway between Albuquerque and Amarillo, it is an area with little to see, but don't pass the Blue Hole. Early Route 66 appears to have just crossed the Blue Hole property. The area around Blue Hall, now located just south of the Interstate 40 exit, is a park. It was integrated with a water park and a fishing pond. Parking is $10.00 per car, but should be free for a quick look. There is an additional fee for scuba diving, please check the official website. An Airbnb where you can stay in a historic hot spring bathhouse. The indoor bathroom was unexpectedly Japanese-style. Mothership Yoga Lounge & Hot Springs Next to the Hoosier Hot Springs is the church-like building that is the Mothership Yoga Lounge & Hot Springs. At first glance, it's hard to tell what kind of facility it is. The current owner, who moved here from Brooklyn, New York, bought the old chapel in 2005 and holds music events, yoga classes, workshops, etc. for women here. In 2018, they also acquired the historic bathhouse next door and opened it as a yoga retreat center, as well as three rooms for Airbnb. Casita Mariposa is a room on the east end of the house that can be reserved for private use, with its own historic bathroom. The other two rooms (Hacienda Apartment and Cielo Apartment) are also attractive, but in these cases, the geothermal water is filled in the outdoor hot tubs. Each of the three rooms has a door lock with a personal code, so you can check in without seeing anyone. A hot spring overflows with a roar. It is one of the most water-rich undeveloped springs in the area. A remote area worth visiting Several wild springs are scattered throughout the mountains between Jemez, where the hot springs district is located, and Los Alamos, known for the Manhattan Project. Of those, San Antonio Hot Springs is the most remote and at the same time the richest in hot water. Take the winding NM 126 to the Forest Service Road 376. Due to the dirt road with deep ruts, visiting with a vehicle with high road clearance is recommended. Also, note that the road is closed during the winter season. The terminus was a looped parking lot with some cars parked there. It is a 1.5-mile round-trip hike from the parking lot to the hot springs. Head north along the San Antonio River in the upstream direction. It was an easy trail that crosses to the other side of the river at the wooden bridge and back a short distance. Located in the national forest, camping is prohibited, day use only. I have visited several times and am disappointed that vandalism has clearly increased in recent years. A beautiful hot spring inn located along the main street of the spa town. Natural hot spring water is drawn into most of the various guest rooms. Two private pools There are two main streets in downtown Truth or Consequences, with a one-way street facing west on the north side and a one-way street facing east on the south side. The white buildings facing the street on the south side is the Fire Water Lodge. Incidentally, they were previously painted turquoise, and photos from that time are also used for your reference. The Texas Home Court, an apartment building built in 1925, was the predecessor of the inn. No walk-in is available, only overnight stays. Lodging can only be reserved through the official website. After completing the reservation, I was given a PIN for the front door and was able to check in without seeing anyone. Thanks to the thorough labor savings, I was able to stay at a reasonable price. Just inside the entrance on the right was an outdoor tub that was available on a first-come, first-served basis. Ready-made hot tub under the gazebo. Valles Caldera State Route 4 from Jemez Springs Bath House to Los Alamos, is known for the Manhattan Project. I could not help but stop the car to admire the vast plains that suddenly spread out on the side of the road. It was the Valles Caldera, created by a significant eruption 1.25 million years ago. Not only does it retain a distinct lava dome in the center, but it also shows numerous geothermal activities and has been designated a national protected area. Natural steam bath Spence Hot Springs is located where the highway takes a sharp curve over the mountains on the caldera's western rim. Nice parking is available and free for day use. Get out of the car here and hike 0.7 miles round trip to the hot springs. It is essentially a less difficult course. A fine stairway was provided on the mountain road to the San Antonio River. Good maintenance condition, indicating its popularity. After crossing the stream by a steel bridge, the next step was uphill. Jordan Hot Springs - Hot Springs in New Mexico

A wild hot spring that can just barely be visited in one day. To enjoy the beautiful scenery and water, it is best to come prepared to camp. Two different routes There are two routes to this hot spring. One is from Trail #729 via Little Bear Canyon. The shortest route, but still 15 miles round trip. The other is further along the trail from next to Gila Visitor Center to Middle Fork Hot Springs. This trail is easy to follow because it follows the Middle Fork Gila River throughout, but it is about 19 miles round trip. I chose the latter route this time. Walking side by side with Middle Fork Hot Springs. Although the trail has few elevation changes, I had to walk across the river many times. Depending on the time of year, be prepared to be immersed in waist-deep water. Bring water shoes and change them frequently to make walking easier. The columnar joints that resulted from prehistoric volcanic activity were close at hand. Lukewarm water seeped out of the surrounding rock formations here and there. Once you join the trail leading from Little Bear Canyon on the south side, there are approximately 2.5 miles remaining to the hot springs. Jemez Springs Bath House - Hot Springs in New Mexico

Bathhouse operated by the village of Jemez Springs. The source exposed on the side of it is also a must-see. Unlimited access to the source Jemez Springs, where a geyser is said to have suddenly sprung up around 1860. The bathhouse is one of the oldest surviving buildings and was constructed in the 1870s. It is even older than another bathhouse that remains in ruins on the nearby Jemez Hot Springs property, indicating that it was a separate facility. Check out the gazebo located a short distance north of the bathhouse. A hot spring pool once existed in this area, and a tent city surrounded it. The gazebo was a remnant, along with the bathhouse, and in the center was a hot water storage tank with the top half covered with wire mesh. Looking in through the gaps in the wire mesh, I saw that fresh water was pouring in, sometimes accompanied by bubbles. Some of the hot water drained directly out of the gazebo, forming a huge travertine dome. And most water was piped to the bathhouse. Another pipeline extended from the gazebo to the other side, where the ground was also brightly colored by mineral deposits. It is natural to assume that this is the source and that the water is stored in the gazebo, and then distributed to the bathhouse. Hot water with a temperature of 177 degrees F.
