Where on earth are they?

First, let's start by parking the car in the RV park’s parking lot at Fairmont Hot Springs Resort.

In 2023, Canada's largest natural hot spring resort was acquired by the Aldesta Hotel Group. It's also an ideal base for exploring the wild hot springs within walking distance. Massive ...

From the parking lot, pass by the lodge and head toward the day-use pool.
Along the way, there was a large sign reading “Natural Hot Pools,” but it was clearly referring to the pool facility.

Descend the slope on the left just before the pool entrance and cross the bridge over the deep valley.

Across the river was an RV park, where many luxury camping trailers could be seen.

I was wandering around, unable to find the natural hot springs, when signs reading CLOSED and BEAR IN AREA caught my eye.

It definitely looked like it didn't want anyone to come in.
It didn't seem to be off-limits, though.
An Inconvenient Truth

I walked a little further and saw a hiking trail sign, which put my mind at ease.

The trail continued, passing under the bridge I had just crossed.

After walking for a while, the trail had washed away, forcing me to walk along the riverbed with its low water level.

Abandoned pipes and other debris lay scattered about, creating an unsettling atmosphere.

No way!
Below the waterfall cascading down the cliff, I could see several people already soaking.

It was a magnificent travertine terrace reminiscent of Pamukkale, a UNESCO World Heritage site in Turkey.

The water temperature was a bit lukewarm at 88 degrees F.

The waterfall basin and surrounding area featured terraced pools, offering ample places to soak.

Even so, as I observed the unusually large waterfall appearing abruptly in such terrain, I realized an inconvenient truth.

This hot spring waterfall was artificially created using piping.

And directly above the cliff lay the hot spring pools of Fairmont Hot Springs Resort.

What did you think?
The travertine is undoubtedly formed by the components of the natural hot spring and remains beautifully visible before us.
