Luxury vacation rental located north of Joshua Tree National Park.
You can immerse yourself in the experience to your heart's content while gazing out at the desolate desert landscape.
Chapparal Cabin
It is about a one-hour drive from the commercialized spa town of Desert Hot Springs.

To get from L.A. to Wonder Valley, take Interstate 10 to Exit 117 and head north on State Route 62.

The highway turns east from Yucca Valley and follows the Morongo Basin to the north of Joshua Tree National Park.

The Wonder Valley is located halfway between the lowland Colorado Desert and the highland Mojave Desert.
Even in the middle of the desert, there are hot springs.

Wonder Valley Hot Springs is a vacation rental with a total of 11 cabins (as of writing).

Each cabin was built in a separate area, and during your stay you would not meet other guests or the host, so your privacy would be maintained.

They also offer day soaks for 1-2 hours by advance appointment, but I decided to stay overnight.
I chose the "Chaparral Cabin."

This was a simple type with a full kitchen and small dining table connected to the bedroom.

Using the Desert as Borrowed Scenery
The indoor bathroom only had a shower, and the tub was installed all alone in the garden behind the cabin.

This is a bold idea that is unique to a region where it rarely rains.

A luxurious tub carved out of granite.

There were pipes extending from the ground for the geothermal water and cold water, and they also had a shower head.

The water temp was as hot as 126 degrees F.
The water was colorless, transparent, tasteless and odorless.

The wastewater was to be allowed to seep into the ground.

Although there was a fence along the road on the south side to block the view, there was nothing on the north side, and the desolate garden was connected directly to the desolate desert, making it difficult to see where the two ended.

The sun beats down mercilessly during the day, but the mornings and evenings are pleasant.
It was also moving to dip in the hot springs while looking at the star-filled sky after the sun had set.
