Wildwood Retreat & Hot Springs [CLOSED] - Hot Springs in New Mexico

08/30/2017

As a hot spring enthusiast, I always seek for a new hot spring that I have never seen.

I know I am a hot spring enthusiast and will not get satisfaction at the end.

However, this is the hot spring where exceptionally I love to visit many times.

Caution

This place has been closed.

Campground for adults

It is 2.5 hours' drive from El Paso, Texas to Silver City, New Mexico, a former mining town.

Another 1.5 hours' drive is necessary to escape from the desert area and to get to Gila Hot Springs, where are located at the riverside of the Gila River, streaming in the rich natural environment.

There are several campgrounds like Gila Hot Springs Campground.

If you are not ready for camping, even a beautiful cabin is available to rent.

Although it is in deep in mountains without cell-phone reception, the facilities are extensive.

They have flush lavatories, cleanly shower rooms, a sink, stoves, a microwave, kitchen stuffs, and free Wi-Fi.

Entrace of Pools

They have two outdoor baths available 24 hours a day.

One is clothing required and the other is clothing optional (mixed bath).

Soaking 01

This is the clothing required one.

The pool is divided into four.

Clothing Required1

The hot water at 150 degrees F is gradually chilled through each tub.

The depth is enough to soak up the shoulders.

Clothing optional

Clothing Optional2

This is the clothing optional one.

The sunshine filtering through the trees is gently reflected on the water surface.

Clothing Optional1

There are step-like three tubs, which realize varying temperatures.

The first and second ones are moderately shallow for half-body soaking when straightening up.

Ripple

The combination of the sacred water and the smell of virgin forests makes you slip into meditation.

It seems in a state of nature, but is maintained modestly and exquisitely.

Water Outlet2

Some blue lanterns begin softly shining as the day ebbs.

That simple decoration creates a relaxing atmosphere.
