A symbolic bathhouse like a work of art.
The structure was designed for functionality, and the soaking was comfortable.

Mass of Functionality
Several hot springs are located around West Valley Reservoir near the northeastern tip of California.
To reach West Valley Hot Springs, take Route 395 east from Likely and head south on Old Blue Lake Road.
On the east side of the reservoir, head toward the shore at the three-way intersection.
My Nissan Maxima could not make the pass, so I switched to walking halfway through.
If your car has a high road clearance, you should be able to get close to the hot springs.
There were woods suitable for camping and other visitors, but it should be noted that the area around the hot springs is private property.
On the left side of the dirt road, there was a particularly eye-catching bumpy terrain.
It is thought to be due to past volcanic activity, but the details are unknown.
It would be natural to see it as being related to the heat source of the hot springs.
At the time of my visit, the area around the bathhouse was partially surrounded by barbed wire.
It is surmised that this was to prevent livestock from entering and contaminating the springs.
Sources were scattered around the area and were seen to be gushing out with gases.
It was 111 degrees F at the gushing point, which was colored with hot spring algae.
The overflowing water gently flowed out toward the reservoir, and the hut was located in the middle of the flow path.
Observing it again, it was a crude shack with a shingle roof.
And yet I could not deny that it had artistic value.
Both sides were open, with the tub on the side that was wide open.
A cozy tub for two.
It was surrounded by plank floors and benches.
Odorless, tasteless water was naturally cooled to 106 degrees F and stored.
The hut, which was a mass of functionality, cut out the sky vividly.

West Valley Warm Springs
Another hot spring is located on the west side of the West Valley Reservoir.
In a beautiful forest that looks like a campsite, I found a pool made of volcanic rocks.
When I visited, the water was almost dry, and it was 73 degrees F.
It is not suitable for soaking, and unless you are a geologist, there is no need to visit.
