Box Canyon Lodge is the next hotel to Twin Peaks Lodge and is located on the southwest edge of the town of Ouray. Barton Springs Pool (Austin) - Texas

The treasure of Austin, the capital of Texas. The beautiful natural spring is set against the skyline of skyscrapers. Main Spring A public swimming pool located less than a 10-minute drive from the Texas State Capitol. It is a place beloved by the public, but also the subject of much controversy. Although not strictly included in the hot springs that this blog specializes in, I cannot resist introducing it. The pool is located in the Zilker Metropolitan Park, which was donated to the city of Austin in 1917 and maintained during the Great Depression. A $5.00 parking fee applies on weekends, holidays and special events. For non-citizens, daily admission for ages 18-61 was $9.00 (except for winter). However, every morning from 5 to 8 a.m. is "Swim at Your Own Risk," which is free of charge but unsupervised. In the 1920s, the city dammed the spring and developed it into a pool. Glenwood Springs, Colorado, famous for its several spa facilities, also has wild hot springs. It was a muddy hot spring, hardly comfortable. In my pursuit of unique hot springs, I found myself floating in a dive spot. And it was in Utah, far from the ocean. Inland dive site On the southern shore of the Great Salt Lake, about a 30-minute drive from Salt Lake City International Airport, there is an interesting spot. Bonneville Seabase is a one-of-a-kind facility that offers authentic snorkeling and scuba diving in the inland state of Utah. Its name is derives from Lake Bonneville, a huge lake that existed in this area until about 13,000 years ago. The current owners, Linda Nelson and George Sanders, bought the land in 1988. At the time, it was a muddy marshland littered with garbage. The fragile soil was improved and reinforced with construction fabric. The pool was also dredged with a huge crane. All the hard work was for the wild dream of building a diving spot using natural hot springs. It's outrageous that they have really made it happen. Visits during the pandemic were by appointment only. A deposit of $10.00 was required at the time of reservation. Day use was a total of $20.00 (as of this writing). A small, lukewarm puddle of water that barely covers your waist when sitting down. If being asked if there is any meaning in going to such a hot spring, the answer is "No meaning, but go." Grapevine Campground An hour and a half north of Silver City, New Mexico. My car gradually gained altitude as I drove up and down the winding mountain roads. Finally, I lowered the altitude and entered the basin where the Gila River flows. Gila Hot Springs Ranch and other hot spring facilities are located in this area. This time I headed to a little-known undeveloped hot spring that requires a hike. Plan on at least three hours round trip. Just before crossing the Gila River on the bridge, turn right toward Grapevine Campground. This is a complementary campground maintained by Gila National Forest. If taking another right at the hairpin turn, you will reach the campground, but if going straight, the trailhead is there. I got off the car here. The path suddenly disappeared from where I passed under the bridge. After this, I had to walk across the river a total of nine times until I reached the destination. Pinkerton Hot Springs - Hot Springs in Colorado

Preconceived notions are tricky things. I have passed by this spring many times and it took me four years to realize that soaking was available. Mineral deposit along the highway If you're traveling in western Colorado, you'll be in good hands on Route 550, also known as the Million Dollar Highway. Twenty minutes north of Durango, a tourist town in the southwestern part of the state, the slimy deposits of Pinkerton Hot Springs comes into view. The shoulder of the road was wide; it was easy to find a parking space. It was a kind of landmark for many tourists to rest for a while. It was in 1875 that this area, once inhabited by the Utes, began its history as a hot spring. James Pinkerton settled the place and it seems to have prospered greatly as a spa resort. The resort facility was apparently located on what is now the Colorado Timberline Academy property, but it burned down. The source of the springs were originally located on the west side of the highway, but in 2001 it was moved to the east side where there was more room to park, because of the traffic congestion caused by tourists. At that time, cement blocks were used to form steps around the vertical pipe; and the design was such that the spring water flowed over the steps. This blog has been introducing the wonders of Thermopolis, Wyoming. Why don't you visit this lesser-known spot of the town? Sand Dunes Swimming Pool & RV Park - Hot Springs in Colorado

It doesn't end with the traditional hot spring pools that are common in the countryside. Think you've been tricked, and pay the extra fee to sneak into the vinyl house in the back. Calistoga is one of the most charming places located in Napa Valley. I stayed at a fashionable motel in the city famous for its mud baths. Fantastic renovation Now in September 2020, Calistoga is threatened by the massive wildfire, Glass Fire. Normally many tourists visit the city for the unique spa experience and wineries. Calistoga Motor Lodge is a 15-minute walk from the downtown. On first sight it looked to me a typical old motel. Indeed it does not look luxurious. However I got impressed by the fantastic renovations inside the buildings. For example, I found a blackboard in the lobby. This showed the free-rent family games like UNO and Jenga. Each of them is not special, but the entire list looks so exciting somehow. The guest rooms are great too. Furniture and bed linens are all in the coordinated navy. A Hula-Hoop hanging on the wall is inspirational as well. Chlorine or money, that is the question Mineral springs water is piped to most lodging facilities and spas in Calistoga. This motel is not the exception, but I experienced a worry from my own rules of thumb. It is unlikely to find a genuine hot springs in such a beautiful place. Eventually it becomes true.
