An Airbnb where you can stay in a historic hot spring bathhouse.
The indoor bathroom was unexpectedly Japanese-style.

ReferenceHoosier Hot Springs (Truth or Consequences) - Hot Springs in New Mexico
Truth or Consequences is always quiet. One day I visited a new spa facility opened in 2017. Historic apartment I was surprised to hear that Truth or Consequences has a new walk-in bathhouse. When I arrived, I was surprised again; ...
At first glance, it's hard to tell what kind of facility it is.
The current owner, who moved here from Brooklyn, New York, bought the old chapel in 2005 and holds music events, yoga classes, workshops, etc. for women here.
In 2018, they also acquired the historic bathhouse next door and opened it as a yoga retreat center, as well as three rooms for Airbnb.
Casita Mariposa is a room on the east end of the house that can be reserved for private use, with its own historic bathroom.
The other two rooms (Hacienda Apartment and Cielo Apartment) are also attractive, but in these cases, the geothermal water is filled in the outdoor hot tubs.
Each of the three rooms has a door lock with a personal code, so you can check in without seeing anyone.
Unexpected Japanese flavor
Immediately after entering, you will find a small courtyard surrounded by tall walls.
The entrance is directly connected to the bedroom.
There is a kitchenette on the other side of the building.
With a microwave, refrigerator and electric stove, it's perfect for long-term stays.
When I went through the kitchen door, I found myself on the other side of the building.
A wooden utility pole on a dirt backstreet.
The indoor bath I was looking forward to was next to the kitchenette.
According to the explanation, it seemed that the water drained directly into river.
The long, narrow bathroom with its distinctive reddish-purple walls had been renovated to give it a Japanese feel.
There are two massage beds on top of the wooden floor mats.
The typical Japanese-style accessories stood out.
The tub was located lower than the ground, and in an era when hot water was supplied and drained using only the natural difference in elevation.
I twisted the valve and poured in the water at 106 degrees F.
It was the colorless, odorless, and tasteless water that was characteristic of Truth or Consequences.
The bottom of the tub was gently sloped, which was comfortable.
Since I could have this space to myself during my stay, I spent most of my time in this bathroom.
